Eureka! : A family day out in Halifax

Where can you go in Yorkshire on a rainy day? Eureka!
We are lucky that we have this fairly close to where we live, as it is a brilliant day out for all the family. My sister lives in Leeds, so not too far from Halifax where Eureka! is located. We decided to have a cheap few days away and used my sisters house as a base for a couple of days to make the most of what Yorkshire has to offer. One of our stops was Tropical World, you can read more about that by clicking here and one of Hallie’s favourite stops was Eureka!

Eureka! Is a children’s museum aimed at the 0-11 age group. It isn’t just educational, it is fun. For the price of £12.95 for adults/kids and £5.95 for toddlers, you can have access to the museum for a whole year. I would recommend buying your tickets online before hand to beat the queues.

Eureka is made up of several different areas, exploring topics from the human body to technology and sound.
I think one of Hallie’s favourite areas was the post office. We wave our kids goodbye and tell them we are going to work and will be back soon, but what is this work place and why do we need to go? Eureka gives children the chance to step into some work roles, from a postal worker to a sales assistant in M&S, they can even deposit some money at their very own Halifax bank.

We took a packed lunch to save on spending in the cafe, they have a few dedicated areas you can eat at and even an old train carriage, which the kids were loving.
