Family trip to The Lakes

And I am back…

From a lovely family holiday in Windermere. It was a truly lovely experience.

We decided to have some time away in the UK with; my Mum, her partner, my sister and of course my partner & baby Hallie.

I think with a baby you want somewhere easy, comfortable and clean, well the Hillthwaite Hotel is all those things and much more!

This is our second visit to the hotel and it did not disappoint.

They offer great packages, we went for the Autumn Escape which included; Gin & Tonic on arrival, gingerbread, cream tea, four course meal each evening and use of their leisure facilities. Fantastic value @ £155 a night.

When you holiday in the UK you need a back up plan if it pours with rain, which is why this was the perfect choice, with a pool and lovely bar area. The pool is the perfect temp for a baby and there is a steam room and sauna for adults.

The rooms are modern & clean with the option for a travel cot (however make sure you state you would like a room with a bath or might end up with just a shower).

The staff cannot do enough to help, especially the younger bar/restaurant staff. They make you feel very comfortable with your baby and not like you are an inconvenience. The restaurant was full both nights as locals were also eating there (that’s when you know the food is great!), but make sure you book on arrival.

If I had to pick the hotels best feature, it would be this…

Nothing more needs to be said.

My sister put together a lovely video of our trip (if you would like to see some shots of the hotel) https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B5H50-vCkm18VzFzcG1hak1sbjg

There is plenty to do in Windermere, with our highlight being The World of Beatrix Potter. The perfect attraction for children (even babies) as there is lots to see in a child friendly environment. Make sure you check out the nursery shop, it is stunning.

Most of the pubs & restaurants were child friendly, however some further up the hill in Bowness involve stairs and are not ideal for a pram. Parking can also be tricky, so we left the car at the hotel and set out on foot when heading to Bowness, car parking is very limited.

All in all, the perfect family location. We will be returning!
